Cutting Up Does Not Need To Be Torture With These Easy Steps
Step 1 – Never Grocery Shop Hungry
It’s the kiss of death to any good intentions you might have, as your hunger grows your cravings for all the wrong stuff will take over.
Before you know it, you have piled high with everything you shouldn’t, therefore spending more money than you need to and going for junk over substance.
If you can, go after a sensible breakfast; not only will you feel full, you are less likely to want chocolate cakes and pizzas at that time of day. I said less likely 🙂
Step 2 – Shop Smart
Download a shopping app on to your smartphone and decide at home what you want for the week ahead, listing it in the app. Then stick to it as you walk around the store. If its not on the list, you don’t buy it.
Better yet, if internet grocery shopping is available in your area, then shop on-line and avoid the store completely. Pick sensibly and review your final shopping list before you checkout. If you sneaked anything bad onto it, you have a second chance to remove it.
Step 3 – Swap To Coconut Oil
Okay, its not a miracle cure, despite what some people would like to believe. However evidence points to Coconut oil boosting metabolism, helping you to burn calories and lose fat.
Coconut oil also improves your ability to burn other dietary fats whilst encouraging ketosis, an important fat burning state; whilst also keeping your blood sugar levels stable between meals.
Cook with it or add it into your diet, for an easy positive response.
Step 4 – Don’t Hang Out In The Kitchen
If you work from home or entertain in the kitchen, the temptation to pick at things, snacking as you go is too easy.
The best approach is to stay out of the kitchen unless you are preparing a meal, then take it to another room to eat.
Going back to Step 2, if you are shopping the right way, you won’t have too many unhealthy snacks anyway, right?
Step 5 – Be Brown Bag Happy
This is a tough one, if like us, you enjoy getting away during your lunch hour and picking up something different to eat.
The trouble is you have no control over the calorie or carb content, even a “healthy” low fat salad can be loaded with hidden sugars.
Switch to your own brown bagged lunch that have full control over and make it interesting but healthy. You can still leave your desk for a brisk walk before you eat it, which will get your appetite up and your own freshly prepared food will taste even better.
